Take up a sport that doesn't cause pain

In the Syracuse Post-Standard Wednesday 03/06/02

To the Editor

Regarding the March 1 comment, "PETA infringes on Americans' pursuit of happiness," by Bassmasters President Michael Cusano:

If fishing hurts, the question isn't what to do about PETA, but how and when to stop fishing. And, as Cambridge University professor of animal welfare Dr. Donald Broom tells us, "The pain system in fish is virtually the same as birds and mammals."

So fishing hurts. Golf anyone?
