Did you know that you can you patent an animal to be used for testing/vivisection? Recently an article in the American Anti-Vivisection Society's (AAVS) magazine, revealed that the US Patent and Trademark Office has granted Patent No. 6,924,413 for an experimental rabbit whose corneas have been deliberately damaged so s/he can be used for certain types of experiments. This is sickening. Who knew you could patent an animal, let alone an animal who has been purposely injured for use in experimentation!!!
AAVS is trying to fight this patent and needs everyone's support. Write a letter to the USPTO urging them to rescind this horrific patent. Please help the rabbits and future animals that might be patented by supporting this important AAVS initiative Write to:
