ADOPTING A KITTEN OR TWO
Video from This One
Wild Life, February 2012
We've just adopted two of the sweetest, orange tabby kittens from
Animalkind, Inc. in Hudson, NY. It's a perfect match. The bonded
brothers required placement together and we were interested in adopting
a pair.
Adopting a Kitten or Two...
ANIMALKIND'S ADOPTABLE ANIMALS

ISABELLA: Isabella is a very pretty long-haired female, a little over
a year old. She has a bit of cat-itude, and would probably prefer life as an
only cat (or at least a home where she's the only female cat).

SAGITTARIUS: Sagittarius lost his home when his owner died. He and his
housemate Diesel are both awaiting adoption at Animalkind. We are not sure
what occurred in his former home, but Sagittarius' special need is placement
in a home with little exposure to men. He is a great cat, but has a deep
distrust of men. He'll be happiest in an environment where he won't have to
interact with men very much.

DIESEL: Diesel's owner died, and he and his housemate Saggitarius are
now at Animalkind awaiting a new chance and a permanent home. Diesel is a
Russian Blue, about 2 years old. He gets along well with other cats, and is
friendly and affectionate.

BG: This affectionate guy was surrendered when his owners could no
longer care for him. He's a little over a year old, and is a very sweet,
mellow guy. BG gets along just fine with other cats.

GRYCO: Gryco found his way into the shelter when a good Samaritan
rescued him after he was attacked by an animal. After quarantine (to ensure
he did not contract rabies), he is 100% healthy and ready for his forever
home. Gryco is a mild-mannered, friendly cat who gets along with other cats.

IZZY BIZ: She lost her home when her owner died. She is a wonderful
cat, very loving and affectionate, about 5 years old. She gets along well
with other cats.

LUCILLE: Lucille is about a year old. She is an energetic, playful girl who
has excellent mousing instincts. Lucille used to live with other cats and
would enjoy doing so again. She has the most beautiful soulful eyes.

DUSTIN: Dustin is a 1 year-old boy. He's a long-haired cat who gets along
with other cats. He's such a love-bug that he adores having his head and
chin rubbed. Big purrs!

GOLDIE: This orange and white Tabby is a stunning medium long-haired boy.
He is quiet, but playful, and gets along with other cats.

GARRY: This gorgeous long-hair guy is part Snowshoe Siamese and has blue
eyes. He is outgoing and affectionate, and enjoys the company of other
cats.

PRUDENCE: My name is Prudence, and I'm a 10-years-young guy! I'm a big buff
orange and white boy, and that just means there is more of me to love. I get
so excited when my human friends come by to visit that I stand up on my hind
legs and wave my paws to get their attention. I especially love to show off
my tummy. My human friends say I have a very cute tummy! I would love the
chance to be a furry companion. Please consider helping me find a forever
home. Thank you!

LEO: This pretty guy was born approximately mid-October 2012 and was rescued
after an accident. He had some broken bones, but is healing nicely now. He
will be ready for adoption soon. If you are interested in adopting him,
please submit an Adoption
Application.

SAGE: Sage is a 3 year-old beauty (who's "all ears"!). She's a petite little
thing who was found starving and sick, and rescued off the streets. She is
very sweet and loving, and more than ready for a permanent home. She
enjoys the company of other cats.

SUGAR: This pretty girl is a Siamese mix. She is about 5 years old. She
loves having her head rubbed, and would enjoy a life with lots of laps that
want attention and affection.

PRESTON: Don't let the name fool you, Preston is a one year old Russian Blue
girl. She was rescued from an abusive home, and is making a great recovery.
She is very gentle and kind, and adores having her tummy rubbed.

TIMMY: Two- to three-year young male lover boy! (He was rescued with 11
others!) Timmy is a rambunctious boy, about three years old. He has a lot of
energy and loves to play with adults and children. Timmy would greatly
prefer a home where he is the only cat.

THOMAS: Thomas is a handsome, brawny, Lynx-looking guy. He was rescued as a
stray. He has spent his life as a cat that comes in and out, and would
prefer a home where he can continue to do so. Thomas is about 2 yeas old.

BERNIE: Bernie lost his home because his owners are moving in with their
parents who are severely allergic to cats. Bernie's a little over 4 years
old. Although he is used to living with other cats, he is not as keen about
dogs. He's lost sight in one eye, but it doesn't hinder him in any way.
Bernie's a big lap cat in search of a new lap.

ANGEL: She truly is an angel. After being badly injured, she has recovered
nicely. Such a lovely girl who is now ready for her forever home!

JACKSON: Jackson is a petite medium long-haired orange boy, almost a year
old. He was rescued from a hoarder. Since he has lived with other cats and
dogs, he seems to get along fine with them. He's a little fearful right
now, having lost the only home he's ever known, but a patient and caring
home would be rewarded with a loving cat.

ABIGAIL: Very sweet, low energy 4 year-old gal. She came from a
multiple cat household, but might also enjoy being an only cat. She likes to
hang out on laps. Her former family split, and she and three others on
this site were left without homes.

BUFF: This is a big boy who is very sweet and docile. He has lived
with other cats and gets along with them. His former family split, and he
and three others on this site were left without homes. Buff would love a
quiet, low energy home.

KITTY: Kitty is about 4 years old. He came from a multi-cat household,
and likes the company of other cats. He's a pretty outgoing boy who enjoys
attention and love from people. He likes to play, but also likes to curl up
in a lap.

RUSTY: This noble guy was rescued as an injured stray. His injury is
healing well, and he should be ready for adoption soon. He is about 5 years
old. He loves attention from people, and gets along with other cats.

LANA: This feisty, playful 4 year-old girl was rescued as a stray. She
likes other cats, but not dogs, and is affectionate on her own terms (she is
not much of a lap cat). She would be an excellent mouser.

RAIN: Rain is close to a year old. She is a sweet, outgoing girl who has has
experience living with children, other cats, and dogs. She is very gentle
and loves attention.

CLINTON: This sweet guy is about two years old. He's friendly and playful,
and gets along with cats and dogs.

NIXON: This guy is part Siamese and is about 2 years old. He has lived with
other cats and dogs, and was rescued from a hoarder. He's a bit shy, but
with the right home, he will flourish.

FLUFFY TWO: Fluffy's owner died, and with no next of kin, the poor
kitty ended up with Animalkind. He's a very sweet cat who gets along
with other cats. If think you might like this handsome boy in your home come
by and meet him. You can save time by bringing a completed
Adoption Application.

BOOTS: Boots lost his home when his owner developed allergies. He's a little
over 2 years old, and is an easy-going, well-adjusted guy. He's very
friendly and playful, and loves attention. He'll fit well in to a home with
other cats.

HERMIONE: Hermione was rescued from a large colony of cats, where she
was dumped (or found on her own when lost). She was not a feral and was
someone's pet as she is such a friendly Tortoiseshell girl. She is close to
2 years old and would love to find herself on your lap.

FLUFFY: We are not sure why this handsome polydactyl (having extra
toes) boy is named "Fluffy", since he is a shorthair. He's got an extra two
thumbs on each of his front paws. He's about 4 years old and was found as a
stray. Fluffy's very friendly and gets along with other cats.

GIN: This little girl is a little over one year old. She's a spunky, sweet,
playful young lady. She loves to be rubbed and held, and purrs the second
you pet her. Gin is outgoing, curious, and ready for adoption into a loving
home.

THE DUDE: The Dude has been dealt a tough hand in life. His former owners
declawed *all four* of his paws. Now that he has no way to defend himself,
"Dude" can be defensive around other pets, which is why he was brought to
Animalkind. He's an affectionate quiet guy, who would love a nice home with
no little kids and a sedate energy level.

THREE MUSKATEERS: These sweet kitties are homeless and need a place to go
ASAP! Please contact us and ask for the 3 Musketeers. They are
beautiful longhairs.

LOLA: Lola is about 2 years old. She is smart, curious and playful. Lola can
be very loving, as long as it's on her terms. She will thrive in a patient,
low energy home without lots of stress.

PRECIOUS
PRECIOUS: Long-hair female Tuxedo, about 6 years young. This sweet and big
gentle cat was surrendered (one of nine) when her owner became ill and
lost her home to foreclosure as a result of medical expenses. Precious hopes
to find a home as loving as her old one.

MISS MEOW: This gentle cat was found severely injured, probably from a
run-in with a car. She is recovering well from her injuries, and should be
available for adoption very soon. She is about 3 years old, and a very
friendly cat.

MARIO: Mario is a stunning Bombay male with striking yellow-green eyes. He
is super friendly to people, but would prefer to be an only cat in the home.
He's very playful and has excellent hunting skills. If you want a fun pet,
Mario's your guy. He's a little over a year old.

LENNY: Lenny is a big love of a lap cat. He is going on 3 years old, and
he's a very mellow, sweet guy. He used to live with other cats, and
gets along well with them.

JADEN: This sweet guy lost his home when his owner was put into longterm
care. He's about 7 years old, and a bit traumatized by losing his home. He's
good with other cats, and will flourish once he's in a new home. See
Jaden's video here
http://youtu.be/ssffyQLe8lU

PIPPI: Pippi is a Dilute Calico lady, nearly 5 years old. She is a bit shy
at busy Animalkind, but likes the company of other cats.

MECHA: Mecha is about 4 years old, and is a one-eyed beauty. She gets around
just fine with her single eye. She is a sweet girl searching for a new
home.

TINY: Tiny is an 8 year-old female. She is blind, but once familiar with her
surroundings, she has no problem. She is a loving girl who enjoys being a
lap cat. She gets along with other cats. Tiny is a staff favorite, as she is
big on personality.

ISABEL: This gentle and pretty girl was abandoned in her home when her owner
moved. She was rescued, along with her housemate, Cettina (recently adopted). Isabel is around 2 years old, and is a loving girl.

STANLEY: This handsome guy has a bobbed tail, either by accident or
amputation, we don't know. But, we love this half-tailed cat who will want
to sleep in your lap all day. (Oh, and he loves his treats!)

CODY: Cody is a neutered male, about 3 years young, who has been in foster
care since the fire at Animalkind's shelter a few months ago. He was named
"Peanuts" by the Animalkind staff, but as you can see by the photos, he is a
strapping young man who does not live up to that name, so his foster mom
gave him a new one. He's a handsome fellow, sporting abstract sable brown
stripes on his front legs, with a black raccoon striped tail and brilliant
green eyes. He gets along famously with other cats, but has, up until
recently, been timid with humans. His foster mom found that with time and
patience, he has come out of his shell and runs to greet her, loves to be
petted, and is a great soccer player. He would probably appreciate an
indoor/outdoor situation (as it looks like he'll be a good hunter) with
humans who appreciate his introversion and are willing to establish a
trusting relationship with him on his own time line. Please feel free
to contact his foster mom at
Susan213@fairpoint.net for more information on Cody. He is so
ready to find a place to call home.

CLOE & KRISTIAN: Cloe is a 1-2 year-old female Dilute Calico
(the sister of Kristian, reportedly a male, the black kitty on the right).
They are very fond of each other and both are very playful.

KALI: A sassy and playful Calico female, about 3-4 years old. She's
confident of herself and independent of other cats. She surely would
love to be on your lap!

MOUSY: Male sweety- Mousy is a real lover boy!!!!

SAPPHIRE: Sapphire was rescued from a Hudson, NY, waterfront feral cat
colony. It's clear she's led quite a life - if only she could talk and tell
us about it! Unlike a feral, she is very sweet and friendly. It's time
for Sapphire to relax and have a loving home where she doesn't have to
compete with wildlife and dozens of other cats for survival. Sapphire is
really mellow and loves attention.

FIRECRACKER: This young mom (formerly known as "Emma") was rescued from
Catskill, NY, along with her babies, Sparkle and Venus. She has done her job, and now that she will no longer make
any more kittens, she is ready for a permanent home. She's very sweet and
friendly.

CHEDDAR: Cheddar was born approximately mid-February and is a very playful
little boy. He would love to be out running and playing in a home with other
cats.

PAXTON: A beautiful silky medium long-hair black male, about 1-2 years
old just in from foster care. He cannot wait for a second chance for a
nice home.

MARIPOSA: With many colors of the butterfly, Mariposa is a Calico
kittie about 1-2 years old. Very sweet and friendly, and looking
forward to meeting you.

PRINCE: Newly-arrived medium long-hair orange male. He loves his
head and neck to be petted!!

JED: Medium long-hair black male. He is just beautiful. Once he was a
feral, but now he is adjusting and will make a patient, caring human a
loving and loyal pet.

TONI: Male tiger boy - a bit on shy side - would you give him a second
chance?

CITRUS: Ms. Beautiful...at Animalkind too long. Please open your heart and
home to her!

MARIGOLD: Female orange sweetie mamma. All her kittens have been adopted and
now she is hoping for her turn. Will you please take her into your
heart?

SPOT: Feral...she spent her early life with little interaction with humans. She would love to have a responsible barn
situation where she could spend the rest of her life.

TAZA: Very sweet kitty. She is up to date on shots. She got an exam,
distemper, rabies an leukemia shot.

FRANCES: Beautiful short-hair Dilute Calico girl. She loves
attention and affection, and gives both back. She appears to be
between 1-2 years old. See
her
video here.

DONALD: Handsome young buff orange tabby guy. Approximately three years old.
Very affectionate and longing for his own loving home. See
his
video here.

VIOLET: Lovely female kitty - good with people...and cats too!

BLOSSOM: A kittens of Rose's also on this site). Blossom needs an understanding
and patient home.

MARLENE: 8-year young sweetie! Please open your heart to her!

DIAMOND: Her siblings have all found homes, and she is hoping for hers also!
Pretty silky black kitty, up to date with shots and spayed also!

MR. MEOW: Sweetest boy, approximately two years young. He does not like the
camera flash, but he does love to cuddle and is great with other cats.

JAZZ: Jazz is the most loving cat, only 2 years old. He is a LOVE!!! See
his video here.

MORRIS: Need a cuddle buddy? Someone to share your thoughts with? Adopt me!!!

ERIN: Momma kitty- all her babies found good homes- now she can't wait for her
own!

BAT-WOMAN: Sweet, young Bat-woman was found abandoned at an empty home. Please
adopt her!

JOAN'S KITTENS: A litter of kittens (2 Tuxedo's, 2 silky blacks,
and a Tiger Tabby) was reportedly found in an alley in Hudson. All
kittens are *very* friendly and are vetted as of now. So....they are
ready to conquer your heart and home! Be amoung the first you get your
Adoption Application in
to Animalkind !

GREENVILLE KITTENS: These four adorable siblings are from a property in
Greenville, NY, with far too many animals. Luckily, their mother was brought
to Animalkind us to have her kittens at Animalkind's facility. Harrison is a
fuzzy ball of fun, who enjoys playing with his siblings. Wanda is an
energetic female short-hair sweetie. Noreen and Alaina are playful, curious
kittens who enjoy exploring. They are now in foster care and will be
available for adoption in early June. Get your
Adoption Application in
soon!

APRIL KITTENS: All of these sweeties were born in approximately mid-April
and will be ready for their permanent homes in early June. Ziva is a little
Calico/Tortoiseshell spitfire! She's a little ball of nonstop energy. (This
is the best picture we could get because she doesn't sit still!).
Gibbs is a gray and white Tuxedo male. He is playful, curious, and likes
being with other animals. Tony is a ball of energy, and enjoys playing with
toys, other animals and people!. Tony and his siblings will be available for
adoption in June. Get your
Adoption Application in
soon!

ROYAL KITTENS: These kittens were born approximately late March. Windsor and
Prince Henry (of course) are males. The brothers enjoy playing with each
other and are affectionate with people. Royal is black with a white star on
his chest and a white tummy. He is eager to start his life with a loving
household. All three are ready for adoption now. Get your
Adoption Application in
soon!

MIGHTY JOE: I think they named me "Mighty Joe" because I am mighty
cute. When I was about 20 days old, I was found in someone's backyard all by
myself. I am healthy and affectionate, and will be ready for adoption mid
May. Because I was found alone and have since bonded with my fellow foster
home kittens, I will need to go to a home with another cat or kitten for
companionship.

BRUCE and ROYCE: These young Tabby Kittens Brothers are both males. They
appear to have been born in early December, 2012 (still kittens!) and were
found on April 1, 2013 huddled together on the street where they had clearly
just been abandoned. Their photos were taken in their foster home the next
day and so was their video:
http://youtu.be/ZX6aDyMXzaM. If you suspect these playful, affectionate,
and beautiful brothers might be just what your family needs, call their
foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588 for more information.

MARBLE and REX: These two cuties were born in late March and, although they
were abandoned, they are already extremely affectionate and hoping for a new
beginning in a good home. Please consider opening your heart to these sweet
little boys and all the fun and joy they will bring. They will be ready for
adoption by the end of May. Contact Animalkind and be first in line!

DAISY: Daisy was born early October 2012 and was rescued from Freehold NY.
She is as cute as she is playful. She wants a loving home!

MARILYN: This tiny baby girl's photo and video were taken on July
23rd. She came to us a stray at such an early age that she is
unbelievably brave and affectionate. Since, as you can see, little
Marilyn has been raised by a pack of dogs and a multitude of cats. she is
growing into a lovely, brave, and super affectionate Tuxedo girl! If
you're interested in being her human please call her foster mom Julia at
646-429-8882. Julia's fosters require a home visit, vet reference, and
an adoption fee (which helps to offset the feeding and medical care of her
many four footed charges), as well as the perfect match between adopter and
adopted.
Here is video of
Marilyn and the hounds.

JOSH: Josh is a feral looking for a welcoming outdoor home where he
can mouse. He would love to reside in a barn or on a farm, or a rural home
that would like to keep the outdoor vermin in check. He's about a year old,
and gets along with other cats. He is fearful of - but not aggressive
towards - people.

HUNTRESS: Semi-feral, this little girl Tiger loves to hunt in the grass.
She's a bit skittish, until petted sufficiently. Please mention when
inquiring that Huntress is one of the "Albany kittens".

SPOT: Feral...she spent her early life with little interaction with humans. She would love to have a responsible barn
situation where she could spend the rest of her life.

BERTHA: Miniature poodle Bertha, female. She is very smart and loving! She
is great with kids, cats and other dogs.

MOJO: This stunningly handsome Maine Coon is a little over a year old.
He is genetically predisposed to urinary crystals, so he's had urethral
surgery to prevent future issues. Mojo must be fed a specific diet of
prescription urinary tract food. He will live a long, happy life provided he
is kept to this diet. He should go to an understanding and compassionate
home prepared to meet this special need, which is not all that difficult.

TINY: Tiny is an 8 year-old female. She is blind, but once familiar with her
surroundings, she has no problem. She is a loving girl who enjoys being a
lap cat. She gets along with other cats. Tiny is a staff favorite, as she is
big on personality.

BUBBY (aka MAGOO): The World's Best Blind Poodle --10 lb, 4-6 year old Bubby, now known as Magoo, was found on the streets of NYC in March of 2013. Here is his most recent video: http://youtu.be/XoxdUojdFa4. This additional video was taken of him on his 7th day in foster care: http://youtu.be/bJzTo8VPeF8. Here is another clip of Bubby with one of his squeaky toys: http://youtu.be/xwwoxhNqUAI . Within several weeks of joining his foster family, Bubby had learned to get on and off of the family bed, use the dog door and negotiate up and down the three steps of the deck. If watching this charming, sweet boy has him working his way into your heart, please call Julia at 518-249-4588 to see if you might be his forever human or humans. (Please do not contact Animalkind about this pet.) Julia's canine adoptions require a home visit, vet reference, a $250 adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and four footed.

JEFFEY: Recently diagnosed with Diabetes, the vet says he requires prescription
food and we are advised diabetes IS manageable, even possibly treatable. He is a
6 year old black and white long haired male cat. VERY friendly, and currently
gets along with his best friend (a dog). He takes a little time to warm up to
other cats (which is not unusual). Jeffey is a big boy, weighs 20 lbs (his body
structure is quite large, making him a “big boy”) He is excellent with children.
His foster mom is looking for a home for him, with someone that can afford his
needs. Please contact Robin at 518 986 4756 and leave a message. We will request
references, just to make sure he will be going to good home, as he is our
“baby.”
If you haven't found who you're searching for above, see below for more animals needing homes!
PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ANIMALKIND ABOUT THE ANIMALS BELOW; THEY ARE NOT AT ANIMALKIND. THE CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THESE ANIMALS IS PROVIDED BELOW EACH PHOTO.

MACHITO the MAGNIFICANT: Young Tuxedo male who will make a superior addition
to any home. I live with a lot of cats and this one year-old boy
knocked my socks of with his bravery, affection, and joyous, outgoing,
nature. He was scheduled to be euthanized at the overflowing NYC
shelter Thanksgiving week. I had no idea I was saving such a gem! If after,
seeing his video, you are interested in becoming his family, please call
Machito's foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588. (Please do not contact
Animalkind about this pet.) Julia's adoptions require a home visit, vet
reference, and adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many
fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and four footed.
See Machito the Magnificent's video of 11/21/12:

BARKLEY: Sweet Barkley was to be euthanized December 24th at 7 a.m. He had
bald patches all over his body. Instead, he was brought to my veterinarian
husband's office where blood tests determined how to get his beautiful silky
coat back. The couple who found Barkley on the streets of New York City
described him as a gentle and perfectly-behaved dog. They did not
exaggerate! Barkley is a gentle, loving and beautiful dog. He is a 68-pound,
6-8 year old joy to his foster family and to the wonderfully lucky people or
person who adopts him. He is wonderful with a houseful of cats and other
dogs and is gentle with children and strangers. Cats that don't like dogs
love Barkley. Blood tests determined that his hair loss was caused by a
treatable pituitary imbalance called "Cushings Disease", for which he will
take medication for the rest of his life.
Barkley's most recent video was taken in mid-May

If Barkley might be meant to belong with you, please call his foster mom, Julia, at 518-249-4588. (Please do not contact Animalkind about this pet.) Julia's canine adoptions require a home visit, vet reference, a $250 adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and four footed.

JAGGER: Jagger (as in Mick) is a magnificent 16 lb, 7-year old who suffered
the shock of having been given up the first week of April by the person who
had cared for him as an only cat since kittenhood. Learn more about this
gentle, and no longer very sad fellow, by watching his videos.
http://youtu.be/zbFhRSbUS-8 If you think he might be meant to join your
family, please call his foster mom Julia for more information at
646-429-8882. This is the video of Jagger taken shortly after he came to me:
http://youtu.be/MZ3hJcLEGLw (Please do
not contact Animalkind about this pet.) Julia's adoptions require a
home visit, vet reference, and adoption fee to help offset the cost of
caring for her many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and
four footed.

PHOEBE: Young female Calico. Phoebe is an amazing 1-2 year old girl.
She was found on the street in Manhattan by a good samaritan, taken to the
vet clinic where my husband practices, vetted, put in a carrier and arrived
at our home to be greeted with by 60 similarly rescued cats and 17 escued
dogs. Yet, this extraordinarily affectionate and fearless girl didn't miss a
beat! If after, seeing her videos, you are interested in possibly
having the Phenomenal Pheobe join your family, please call her foster mom
Julia at 518-249-4588. (Please do not contact
Animalkind about this pet.) Julia's adoptions require a home visit,
vet reference, an adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her
many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two- and four-footed.
Here is Phoebe just arrived:

http://youtu.be/U0aQ8HroXWE.

KAISER: Kaiser is a Cairn Terrier (like Toto in "Wizard of Oz"). He
will be 13 on Nov 4. Yes, he is older, has trouble getting up on the couch &
doesn't see as well, but that is it! He eats well & goes to the
bathroom well, loves to ride in the car, go for a walk & play!! (He
does sleep more now than he used to.). He is accustomed to cats and other
dogs (only once did a female boxer put him in his place, but this boxer does
that with other dogs too!) A drawback with Kaiser is little kids,
that's why he was a rescue dog to me. He grew up with my friend's
granddaughter and there were NO problems, we just watched them carefully. My
present landlady says "no" to dogs so I must fine him a home. Please
contact Tracie at 845-750-1402 or email
dicktracie27@gmail.com for more
information. (Please do not contact
Animalkind).

SANDY: Small adult male Shih Tzu. (Please do not contact Animalkind about
this pet; his contact information is at the at the end of his description.)
Sandy was found as a stray and was on the list of those to be killed at an
NYC shelter in April. He weighs 12-13 pounds and is between 7-9 years of
age. Here is a video of Sandy taken after he had been in foster care for a
week:
http://youtu.be/rlVlnWqN4YQ.
Sandy is over the kennel cough he picked up at the shelter. He's had his teeth cleaned, has been neutered and is patiently awaiting a new home where he is not surrounded by sooo many other critters. Sandy loves car rides, walks and runs, but hates the groomers. If, after having watched his two videos, you are interested in learning more about possibly becoming his human, please call his foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588. Julia's canine adoptions require a home visit, vet reference, a $250 adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and four footed. Here is Sandy's main video: http://youtu.be/sYnWFhDMhUQ.

LOLA and LOUIE: Young medium-size brother and sister Tabbies. They were born
in April 2012,spayed and neutered and given all shots within 9 years of age.
They truly adore each other. They are by the most adoring cats their foster
mom has ever met and constantly delight her day with sweet gestures.
Never mean, they sometimes shout at each other, but this is all part of
their play. When their human is away, they have each other and when their
human is home, they take turns in keeping her company, sitting on her foot
and jumping on her lap. They are playful and trusting with children and
allow their nails to be cut with very little. They have not been around
other cats or dogs, so it is not sure what their initial reactions might be.
Lola is shy at first, but is very sweet and hugely affectionate when she
gets to know you. She loves to cuddle. Louie is very outgoing
and loving, ans walks up to everyone. He has a strong personality and
loves to snuggle against you, sit at your feet and talk to you! (Please do
not contact Animalkind about these cats.) If you are interested in adopting
this wonderful pair, please contact Julia at 518-249-4588.

Spikey is a 17 lb, 1 1/2 year old Yorkie who was on the list to be
euthanized due to overcrowding at the city shelter 4/22/13. He is now safe
and sound an awaiting an experienced dog guardian or guardians who will be
willing to work with a trainer and go slowly with Spike until he learns that
this world can indeed be a safe place for a lucky dog. He is a kissy,
cuddler who loves belly rubs but only with people he trusts.
Please call his foster mom Julia at if you'd like to be approved to meet
him. (Please do not contact Animalkind about this
pet.) Julia's canine adoptions require a home visit, vet reference, a
$250 adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters, as
well as the perfect match between two and four footed.

ROSIE: Small female adult Smooth-Coated Fox Terrer Mix. Rosie is a
sweet 6 yr old, 15-16lb, mixed breed girl looking for a new forever home. We
don't know anything about her start in life but at approximately two years
of age, she was adopted out of a shelter by a loving couple. Two years
later, a human baby joined the family. SAdly, the child was dignosed with
autism resulting in Rosie once again in search of new parents to love and
care for her. Her family is now unable to give her the attention and
exercise she needs.
Her mom writes of her:
"Rosie is a sweet, smart dog. She loves to be on your lap and sleep on
your legs if you are lying on the couch. She is very well house
trained -- currently she gets 4 walks a day. She knows how to sit, lie
down, shake, roll over, and jump through a hoop. Like all dogs, she enjoys
attention, affection and play. She will play fetch with stuffed toys.
She has a beautiful face and markings, and often gets admired as we walk her
down the street. Her eyes are lovely. She is ok with other dogs, as long as
the humans oversaw feeding time and managed toys, etc. She does well at
doggie day care. We have taken Rosie with us while visiting friends
and family with their own dogs and she is fine. We think she might do very
well in a house with another dog for company, though she can sometimes be
intimidated by big dogs. She should not go to a house with cats or
small children because she occasionally barks or growls at young children,
and really barks at the few cats she has met. Rosie needs enough exercise.
In the city, for example, she would need to be taken on nice long walks or
to the dog run in the morning and evening, and she would do best in an
apartment without a lot of foot traffic outside since she has occasional
bouts of guard barking. She would also thrive at a house in the suburbs or
country with a fenced-in yard."
This video of Rosie was taken 3/10/13:

four footed.

STAIBS FOSTERS: Super cute kittens, boys and girls, each ready to conquer
your heart! Please email their foster mom at
fitz.armory@juno.com for more
information on any of these sweeties!

CALIQUA: Medium adult female, Calico. Dear Caliqua is as affectionate, easy going, and as playful as she is beautiful. Not a typical female or typical Calico, she is as loving as can be and is never in a bitchy mood or asking to be left alone when her humans or other creatures feel in need of a little love. If, after watching her video, you think she might be the girl for you, please call her foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588. Watch http://youtu.be/g6fLQXo7e2w. (Please do not contact Animalkind about this pet.) Julia's feline adoptions require a home visit, vet reference, and adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and four footed.

MR B (aka BROWNIE): Large adult male Orange Tabby Shorthair. There is no
gentler, sweeter, handsomer red kitty boy than this. If you'd like your new
companion to purr like a machine and rub his head against yours, reach out
his paws to you in affection, gently knead your chest as you lie down
relaxing and get along splendidly with any other two- or four-footed family
members, then you would be lucky if Mr. B became your
cat. Here is his youtube video:
http://youtu.be/ORn6Xnby-1s. Please call his foster mom Julia at
518-249-4588 to learn more about possibly taking this splendid fellow into
your home. (Please do not contact Animalkind about
this pet.) Julia's feline adoptions require a home visit, vet
reference, and adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many
fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and four footed.

OGDEN: Adult male medium-size Tuxedo. Please forgive Ogden for looking
a little put off in his photo. This affectionate 5 year-old has not been
having a very good go of things. His humans abandoned him in a hallway in
his carrier and then he had to get used to living in foster care with way
too many other animals for his taste. Ogden would love to be an only adored
cat, or at least only have to peaceably exist with just one or two others!
He looks much happier in his video getting some one on one human attention:
http://youtu.be/ItWLx9pBhyk. If
this handsome fellow might be the cat you're looking for, please call his
foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588. (Please do not
contact Animalkind about this pet.) Julia's feline adoptions require
a home visit, vet reference, and adoption fee to help offset the cost of
caring for her many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and
four footed.

TREVOR: Trevor is an adorable, 13 pound, 5 year old, mostly (maybe?) Carin
Terrier who was on the list to be euthanized at the overcrowded NYC shelter.
Trevor arrived at his foster home on Monday 3/25/13 and this video was taken
the next day:
http://youtu.be/ARfEGadsJQw. This short YouTube video shows him after
his first grooming that Thursday:
http://youtu.be/Bfm61cfVx9g. Trevor belongs with an experienced dog
person or persons who like a dog on their lap and in their bed who loves to
have his belly rubbed. He has been abused in the past, so he should
not live with children. He loves car rides, but will guard like a
trained lunatic if a strange man approaches too closely. (He will also try
to kill your vacuum cleaner!) To learn more about Trevor and find out if he
might be the dog of your heart, please call his foster mom Julia at
518-249-4588. (Please do not contact Animalkind about this
pet.) Julia's canine adoptions require a home visit, vet reference,
a $250 adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters,
as well as the perfect match between two and four footed.

CALLI: Eight year-old Calico/Siamese Snowshoe mix is in desperate need of a
home. She is a cuddly, affectionate cat and is great with kids! She needs a
new home asap due to the allergies of her former owner. Please email
hollis@rpi.edu for more information on
this unusual beauty.

SAMMY: Small male Terrier mix. This video was taken on little 8 lb, 9
year-old Sammy's first day in foster care:
http://youtu.be/cYhhyK89wM0. He was on the list to be killed on 4/22/13
at a NYC kill shelter. If this sweet little scruffer might be the tiny
canine for you, please call his foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588.
(Please do not contact Animalkind about this pet.)
Julia's canine adoptions require a home visit, vet reference, a $250
adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters, as well
as the perfect match between two and four footed.

BUBBY (aka MAGOO): The World's Best Blind Poodle --10 lb, 4-6 year old
Bubby, now known as Magoo, was found on the streets of NYC in March of 2013.
Here is his most recent video:
http://youtu.be/XoxdUojdFa4. This additional video was taken of him on
his 7th day in foster care:
http://youtu.be/bJzTo8VPeF8. Here is another clip of Bubby with one of
his squeaky toys:
http://youtu.be/xwwoxhNqUAI . Within several weeks of joining his foster
family, Bubby had learned to get on and off of the family bed, use the dog
door and negotiate up and down the three steps of the deck. If
watching this charming, sweet boy has him working his way into your heart,
please call Julia at 518-249-4588 to see if you might be his forever human
or humans. (Please do not contact Animalkind
about this pet.) Julia's canine adoptions require a home visit,
vet reference, a $250 adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for her
many fosters, as well as the perfect match between two and four footed.

WILLOW and SOCKS: Willow (top) is a grey female and her Tuxedo (bottom) is
her brother Socks. They are very playful and dog and cat friendly. The two
were kicked outside when they got fleas. However thanks to a helpful
neighbor, they are now safe and sound (and flea-free) enjoying their foster
house until they find their forever home. These two are about seven months
old, recently fixed and tested, all ready to go. For more information on
either or both, please email
jessicaquinn@optimum.net

BRUCE and ROYCE: These young Tabby Kittens Brothers are both males. They
appear to have been born in early December, 2012 (still kittens!) and were
found on April 1, 2013 huddled together on the street where they had clearly
just been abandoned. Their photos were taken in their foster home the next
day and so was their video:
http://youtu.be/ZX6aDyMXzaM. If you suspect these playful, affectionate,
and beautiful brothers might be just what your family needs, call their
foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588 for more information.

CHLOE: Approximately 12 week-old female Chihuahua (mix). She Will
receive her third round of puppy shots on April 16th. She is very
sweet and very smart. Also, she is accustomed to her crate, stairs, puppy
pads and nearly housebroken....in just one week! She is thriving! I am
hoping to recover all of $275 that I spent to get her into NYS. I will pay
for the third puppy vet visit. Please contact:
maureen.chirun@gmail.com for
more information on this sweet little girl.

SWEET MELISSA and PEANUT: When 2 year-old Peanut and 3 year-old
Melissa are not eating, playing, or snuggling with me, they can usually be
found wrapped around each other in their favorite chair.
http://youtu.be/qkLVuWu9H30. This wouldn't be so remarkable if they were
mother and daughter, but these lovely ladies only met in foster care 4
months ago! If you are an experienced cat person, you know that this
kind of closeness is quite common among males but an extremely rare
occurrence among females. Peanut is the petite tuxedo/calico and came
from a home with 26 felines in need of surrender. Sweet Melissa
entered foster care along with another cat at the suggestion of her then
human's social worker. Here is a video of Melissa, before she found Peanut:
http://youtu.be/Il8WO_-82TQ. If, after watching their videos, you are
considering having this pair join your family, please call their foster mom
Julia at 518-249-4588. Please do not contact Animalkind about these cats.
Julia's adoptions require a home visit, vet reference, an adoption fee to
help offset the cost of caring for her many fosters, as well as the perfect
match between two and four footed.

family, call her foster mom Julia for more information at 518-249-4588.

where he had thick mats that needed to be shaved off! Learn more about
this gentle fellow while watching his video, and if you think he might be
meant to join your family, please call his foster mom Julia for more
information at 646-429-8882. See Marcel's video at:

SOPHIE: This little Havanese mix is 7 years old. She weighs between 10 and
11lbs. She is on the shy side but is gentle and sweet. She gets on well
with other dogs and cats. Sophie is wee wee pad trained and is fine going
to the bathroom outdoors as well. She is used to the constant companionship
of her humans.

DONNA and FERN: Fern and Donna are three-year-old sisters who seek a new
home. They are playful and curious, sweet and affectionate -- as eager to
chase a crumpled bit of paper around the room as they are to snuggle with
you. Since they've had loving owners their whole lives, these girls are
gentle and trusting. They've also been together since birth and would prefer
to stay together. Fern and Donna are spayed and up to date with their
vaccinations. I am sad to say goodbye to these sweet kitties but am moving
to a place where no pets allowed. For more information on these sweet
cats, please email Emily at
emilyliebert@gmail.com (especially, but not necessarily, if you are in
the Connecticut area)

asap! Please email lmaranony@aol.com

SUNNY: Small adult male Miniature Pincher. Sunny is approximately 5 years
old and weighs 6 1/2 pounds He is an energetic and cuddly little
fellow, initially more fond of women, but fine with patient men as well. He
gets on well with other dogs and happily does the "doggie meet and greet"
with canines he passes on the street. Sunny is fine using wee wee pads in
the house. After having been bounced around for a while, this good boy is
waiting to become the center of his human or humans' world. Please call
Julia at 518-249-4588 to discuss whether or not you might provide this

approximately 6 years of age and loves to be loved. Bonita and her
equally plump calico mother, Callie, both came into foster care when their
human became ill. They can often be found sharing a bed and would be
very happy staying together. If after seeing Bonita's video, you
would like to find out more, please call her foster mom Julia at
518-249-4588. (Please do not contact Animalkind about this cat).

FLOWER: This Tortoiseshell female, born approximately August 2012, is still hand shy. Although she will let you pet her on the head when she is in her cage, she is very nervous. Flower has been in foster care for awhile now and she is still leery of her foster mom. This is because she likely had a traumatic kittenhood where an older gentleman was practicing "population control with a shovel"! She was fast enough to get away from him, but became mistrusting of humans. For more information on this sweetie, please email foster mom Jess at jessicaquinn@optimum.net

POLLY BALLERINA: Small adult female Tuxedo. Little Polly is a super

ZACHARY: This lovely 1-2 year old boy was scheduled to be euthanized at the
NYC Animal Care and Control facility. A woman desperately wanted to save his
life and asked that we get "pull" him from the facility for her. From
the start, it was not a match made in heaven. The woman had two other quiet
older cats and Otis was driving her crazy with his exuberance and need for
attention and affection. A major purrer! He is the perfect cat for an active
home. He's great with children, dogs and other felines. If after, watching
Zachary's video, you think this might be just what your family needs to be
complete, please call his foster mom Julia at 518-249-4588. (Please do not

grew up with children as an only cat, but has been remarkably brave at
adjusting to living with many other cats and dogs in foster care. She is
remarkably beautiful and loving. If you might want to find out how to
possibly commit to Lucy for her lifetime, please call her foster mom Julia

BARKLEY: Sweet Barkley was to be killed December 24th at 7 a.m. He had bald patches all over his body. Instead he was brought to the rescuer's veterinarian husband's office where blood tests determined how to get his beautiful silky coat back. The couple who found Barkley on the streets of New York City described him as a gentle and perfectly behaved dog. They did not exaggerate! Barkley is a gentle, loving and beautiful dog. He is a 68 pound, 6-8 year old, joy to his foster family and to the wonderfully lucky people or person who adopts him. He is wonderful with a houseful of cats and other dogs. Barkley is gentle with children and strangers. Cats that don't like dogs love Barkley. Blood tests determined that his hair loss was caused by a treatable pituitary imbalance called "Cushings Disease" for which he will take medication for the rest of his life. Barkley's most recent video was taken the last week of February, after his first bath: http://youtu.be/TsuHYJX23ps. This one was taken the following day: http://youtu.be/7qJ1GAO1nE0. glance! But in reality, Mikey is a kissy, athletic, funny faced two to
three year old mix of "go figure." He weighs 17 lbs. Mikey found himself at
the NYC kill shelter and then to safety with us. He loves other dogs and
cats. Mikey is incredibly soft, which is good because he is a joy to have
snuggled up under your bed covers at night. If after watching his
video you think maybe he belongs in your loving arms, please call his foster
mom Julia at 518-249-4588. (PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ANIMALKIND ABOUT THIS PET.

They would love to find a nice home together. For more information on these two, please email BevDitto@gmail.com

GAILY: Young female black Domestic Shorthair. Sweet Gaily is a lovely little
almost 6 month old (born approx May, 2012) panther girl who came into rescue
this summer from the city shelter in Staten Island. She was found as a stray
and was very timid. Yet, she would allow all handling without ever a hiss or
a scratch even thoiugh she was afraid humans meant her great harm. As an
older kitten, she has become a purr machine, as you will see in her video.
If, after seeing her youtube debut, you would like to find out if Gaily
should possibly find her lifetime home with you, please call her foster mom
Julia at 518-249-4588. Please do not contact Animalkind about this

LOSING THEIR HOME: These are cats from an 80 year old woman that is
suffering from dementia and will soon have to be placed in a nursing home.
She used to be very active in cat rescue up until her recent diagnosis, so
we would love to place her cats in good homes to relieve her worry about
them. Exact ages of these are not known; they range from 5 years and older.
The first one (upper left) is Diana, she is an orange/grey calico, she is shy. Next is Igor (upper right), a big, beautiful tiger cat with a lazy eye. He's a little shy. Amelia, black and white (middle row left), is about 8 years old and a real lap cat who will want to get up in your face. She's "a tad" overweight. Destiny, black Tuxedo, (middle row right) is super friendly and has extra toes, sits on her back feet and waves her paws in the air. Mr. Bo Jangles (bottom) is a very large black formerly-outside cat. He loves to eat, and as a consequence, is "a tad" overweight. For more information on these sweeties, please do not contact Animalkind but email Jess at jessicaquinn@optimum.net

GEM: Small young female Domestic Short Hair. Gem was found in a building

MARGIE: Young female, Tuxedo. Little Margie was rescued from certain death
this past Saturday July 21st. She was noticed in the Bronx unable to
give birth to a stillborn kitten. Margie is only a baby herself and is going
to be a very small cat when she finishes growing. After her emergency
c-section, there were two tiny kittens left alive but Margie had not a drop
of milk for them. We took in a nursing mom mother cat and her litter from a
kill shelter in NYC to take over Margie's maternal duties. Now this little
girl needs a home. She is sweet, lovely, diminutive in stature, and quite a
trooper considering her ordeal. To learn more about this ex teen mom, please
call her foster mom Julia at 646-429-8882. Julia's fosters require a home
visit, vet reference, and an adoption fee (which helps to offset the feeding
and medical care of her many four footed charges), as well as the perfect
match between adopter and adopted. Here is
Margie's video.

ROSEY: Buff orange Siamese mix. Rosey is about a year old and very shy when she first meets you. However, after a few days she gets comfortable. She loves to have her belly scratched and rolls around, evidencing a lot of potential for becoming a loving pet. For more information on this beautiful cat, please contact her foster mom Jessica at jessicaquinn@optimum.net

old cats' veterinarian said the stress of having a year-old active cat trying to
play with them was hastening their demise.

intrepid adventurer most orange boys are known for, outgoing and friendly to
all! Here
is Holden being groomed by his favorite dog. Here are

SAMANTHA: My name is Samantha and I am Dolly's sister (she is also on this
site). I am looking for a forever home as my human has had to go to a
nursing home. I am not as active and busy as my sister, but I also love to
play with the red dot of a laser pointer. What I lack in activity level, I
make up in companionship. If you will let me, I could sit in your lap
or next to you for hours. My only special need is that I am on a
special cat food that I get from my Doctor. I have a chronic kidney problem
that is controlled with this food. This is a very good diet for all cats, so
my sister and I dine together. My current caregiver is willing to make a
donation towards my dietary needs. My sister and I are both spayed. I would
make a wonderful companion for either a single or retired person. I would
probably be a little reclusive in a very active household. Like my sister, I
have never seen a baby or a dog, so I don't know how I would react. Would
you also please consider me for adoption? If someone would take us
both together, that would be just the CAT'S MEOW!!!! Please call Bonnie at
(845) 331-0451 for more information on Samantha.
