Emergency House Pet Food Fund & Other Help

We are Ancramdale’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a small, local charity focused on the residents of Ancram and Ancramdale, New York and its surroundings.

Recently we started an Emergency House Pet Food Fund with which we have been purchasing food for those who cannot afford to feed their animals in today’s economy.

For a number of months we also funded and conducted a successful ongoing trap/spay/neuter/inoculate program to care for feral cats, who are then returned to their original sites. We also help provide low cost spay/neuter services for pets of low income families.

We want to alert you to these two services. Also, we would like to expand to offer the following services, limited by funds, and also by the location of the animal and its owner.

In a severe health emergency , or to accommodate a difficult out-patient treatment schedule, (e.g., a chemotherapy schedule, severe illness, etc., etc.) it may be possible on a temporary basis for one of our volunteers to supply short-term care for the pet – e.g., take the patient’s animal for walks, stop in to feed the animal, etc.. This is not a service that we offer for people who are traveling or visiting. It is offered to those who are ill and needy, again limited by the availability of our volunteers, and by our restricted finances.

If you would be good enough to post this information (see attached poster), and/or to refer to us those who might qualify, we would be most appreciative.

Animalkind Inc.is a not-for-profit welfare, protection, rescue, rights organization dedicated to the  compassionate care and humane population control of abandoned, feral and stray cats in Hudson, New York (Columbia County) and the surrounding area.  We promote non-lethal  prevention of an unwanted litter or litters of kittens through trap, spay, neuter, release (return), (tnr, TNR).  An altered cat or kitten is released into a managed colony. Felines living in such colonies are assured kind daily care.  Adoption to  homes providing love and care for cats and kittens is encouraged.   We also provide low or no cost spaying and neutering assistance to low income pet owners and help increase public awareness and education through the media, special events, and publications to promote compassion, respect, and kindness towards all animals.
