12 cats left alone in apartment when their owners were hospitalized - 24 Nov 2010
Rescue Actions - What We Do Every Day
One day before Thanksgiving, 12 cats were rescued by Animalkind after they had been left in an apartment for nearly a full month. The story is sad and it inspired us to count our own blessings every day.
A couple with a big heart and love for the stray animals that nobody wanted hit hard times. The woman was hospitalized and no one knows if or when she will ever return and or where she will be taken.
Her husband is disabled and has to go to a nursing home. He thought the cats were being cared for by someone, but found out that was not the case. As a consequence, the cats had been confined in the apartment alone for weeks with n o water or food. The gentleman finally managed to go back to the apartment and tried his best to find a place for the helpless cats. But, nobody responded to his pleas.
We just could not let those innocent creatures vanish into an uncertain future and even though we are super-full, we managed to get them all by the day before Thanksgiving.
After hearing the sad story of these good people, we are grateful to so many of you that support us because otherwise, we would not have been in a position to have saved these lives. It simply would not have been possible without you, our supporters.
Count your blessings if you have a secure home and your furry friends are safe. Many are not so lucky.
The 12 rescued kitties are safe with Animalkind. We are hoping that many adoptions will come through, so they will all find good homes.
We wish a happy ending for these souls and a Happy Thanksgiving to you!.
