Albany Animal Control calls Animalkind - 6 Jan 2010
We received a call from Animal Control in Albany, NY, asking us for help with Denis. The kitten was only 5 mo. young and had already ended up at a kill shelter, scheduled to be put down because he wasn't "perfect".

Animalkind agreed to take him right away and Denis arrived one hour later -- with his sister! His sister also had birth defects, although not as severe - merely some deformation of her paws. She was quickly adopted into a loving home.
Denis's deformation issues were more dramatic: his hind legs were twisted, his scull is slightly deformed and he has only a stubby tail. He gets around OK and uses the litter box purr-fectly fine. AND what a love bug! Denis was lucky that a vet from NYC came to Animalkind and offered to treat and/or operate for free!

This sweet soul has endured so much in his short life. Now he is recovering from a successful operation so he can use his hind legs. Little Denis is eager for someone to open their heart and home to him! Please give him the chance for a loving life!

Animalkind Inc.is a not-for-profit welfare, protection, rescue, rights organization dedicated to the compassionate care and humane population control of abandoned, feral and stray cats in Hudson, New York (Columbia County) and the surrounding area. We promote non-lethal prevention of an unwanted litter or litters of kittens through trap, spay, neuter, release (return), (tnr, TNR). An altered cat or kitten is released into a managed colony. Felines living in such colonies are assured kind daily care. Adoption to homes providing love and care for cats and kittens is encouraged. We also provide low or no cost spaying and neutering assistance to low income pet owners and help increase public awareness and education through the media, special events, and publications to promote compassion, respect, and kindness towards all animals.
