Despite the Dallas Zoo’s recent announcement that Jenny the elephant would not be traveling to Mexico after all, her fate still hangs in a precarious balance. Your participation is urgently needed to help ensure that her best interests are considered by Dallas decision-makers, and that she is allowed a swift retirement to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee rather than being left to languish at the Dallas Zoo.

Many thanks for all your hard work so far advocating on Jenny’s behalf! We must now keep the pressure on to bring about the best outcome for her, by imploring Dallas officials to intercede and convince the zoo to send Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary.

Send your letters to Dallas city officials right now.

The Sanctuary has already agreed to accommodate Jenny, and multiple private donors have generously stepped forward to pay for her transportation costs. It is unclear why the Dallas Zoo appears to be going against its earlier plans of finding a new home for Jenny, instead announcing it would incorporate a new elephant enclosure into plans for an “African Savanna” project, and also bring in a second elephant. This course of action would essentially sentence both elephants to a lifetime at a facility with a long history of animal welfare issues, where Jenny is already known to be suffering.

We here at Born Free USA united with Animal Protection Institute feel that this is an unacceptable solution, and we urge you to continue to work with us to bring an end to Jenny’s misery and ensure she has a brighter future, living at The Elephant Sanctuary — a place that is recognized for its expertise and experience healing troubled and ailing elephants, and which is able to offer her the care and rehabilitation she needs.

Thanks to the strong public outcry of people like you Jenny will no longer be going to Mexico, but now we need your voice more than ever to ensure a successful outcome for Jenny.

How You Can Help

Please contact Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and Dallas City Council members today and urge them to take the necessary steps to do what is right for Jenny and retire her to The Elephant Sanctuary.

Even if you don’t live in Dallas, or if you have previously taken action to help Jenny, we need you to please write and follow up with a phone call.

Be sure to keep your communications polite, short, and as personal as possible.

Send your letters on Jenny's behalf now.

Thank you for all your efforts to help Jenny!
