Please read this letter attached. You may call it a prayer for the innocent. The background is that I have been asked from people in Korea to do a special effort to stop this indescribable torture and murder of dogs and cats in the Korean dog-meat-markets.

If we as human beings do not care properly for our animals, who will? They look to us, as children do, for their happiness, comfort and security. And if the authorities of Korea and its laws do not recognize this and intervene, who will?

No matter what the Koreans calls it, culture, sexually potent helper, old habit etc. The result for the poor animals is the same: They are AWAITING THE SAME FATE - DEATH BY TORTURE.

Therefore I ask you to help put an end to these barbaric actions also because, we have learned that PEOPLE WHO CAN HURT ANIMALS CAN EASILY HURT HUMANS!

"Science may have found a cure for most evils: but it has not found any remedy for the worst of them all -- the apathy of human beings!

Please help the poor dogs in Korea!

Dear Sir, dear Madam

With this letter we kindly ask you to assist us in having the cruelty and suffering of dogs and cats in your country come to an end.

We are here talking about the dogs and cats there are kept in the most horrifying way for later on being abused, killed and sold as human food. We do know that in your country animal welfare is absence. Therefore this letter of plead to you.

We and our organizations here in Denmark, campaign peacefully against all forms of animal abuse and promote a cruelty-free lifestyle.

We investigate and expose animal cruelty and our undercover investigation and other evidence are often used by the media, bringing these issues to public attention. We are in connections with organizations for the prevention of cruelty to animals all over the world.

Honestly, we were much astonished to learn from Animal Welfare Organisations in Europe, the press, televisions etc, what they have told us about what is going on of cruelty to the dogs and cats in Korea. They also told that without good peoples help the horror will never end.

We learned by the television that in your country it is legal to treat the dogs in the most gruesome way just to get the meat. The grusome way we are talking about almost makes us sick and makes us ask the question: How people can treat any living creature in such an appalling way.

Let us give you an example: This letter sets out to describe how.

In your country the below description is a normal “life” for your dogs and cats:

• First they were catch or stolen, sometimes beaten almost to dead on the street before they were transported under brutal conditions to the market or farms.
• The farms could hold as many as from 50 to several thousandth living dogs and cats.
• The animals were held cramped in rows of tiny wire wire or bamboo cages.
• When a Korean picked a dog ready for sale, the animals are removed from cages with metal tongs around their necks and carried by their hinds and legs. Terrified.
• At the slaughter place the slaughtermen often stun them with repeated blows to the head using clubs, or by swinging them by the hind beating their heads on the ground.
• Afther five to ten minutes these animals were still breathing, had a heartbeat, and continued moving and blinking.
• The headline should now be: Meat from tortured dogs taste best – come and buy!
• The slaughter is saying: “enjoy your meal”, while we are ready to vomit!

The sight of these poor creatures is going to haunt us for the rest of our life!

We simply do not understand that your authorities allow this systematic abuse of animals. Something must be done in order to ensure that this cruelty to animals comes to an end – also in your country if:

1. You want to be a member of the civilised world, to be accepted and respected among the nations around the world.
2. You want to show the best of your country and culture to the tourists.
3. You want to have increase in the national income. To be a wealty country.
To obtain this you must show that you are civilized and deserve respect. A country where the authorities allow abuse to living creatures does not deserver it. What do you belive other countries think about you?

The headline to one of the articles about the abused and dogs and cats in your country was:
Go to Korea and get in a bad mood. Fortunately we have avoided that. The articles put a timely focus on the monstrosities that happen to and dogs and cats. That makse us of course telling widely to our network go ahead and boycott Korea, because of the above written!

This letter has been sent to politicans, embassies, the press, travel agencies, tour operators etc. working with travels and tourism in Korea. And of course to Organizations Working Against Cruelty to Animals all over the world. They are all welcome to quote from this letter (we can also provide many pictures of abused dogs and cats). Their customers will hereby be absolutely clear about what they risk meeting on their great and expensve trip to Korea. Terrible animal cruelty of the worst kind!

Be sure that national and international eyes will want to follow this luckily publicized and despicable issue closely, follow how the poor animals suffer with a gruesome death as their future.

I feel it incumbent on me to say that: What must it be like for the men who are acting like monsters while they cause a living creature so much fear, pain and suffering. How can they be loved and respected by their wives, sons and daughters? They will earn the contempt of everybody in the civilized world. How can so much wickedness find its way to the hearts of the Korean people is absolutely incomprehensible to us. We take great dissociate from Koreas mean dogs and cats slaughterers.

Poor creatures poor us:
If we are not able to stop the unnecessary industrial suffering of the animals, we will hardly be able to protect ourselves from the same insensitive and destructive standards that threaten our society in many in many other areas of humane activity. It is an ethical and political matter but it is also common sense.
David Hammerstein

Take action:
We appeal to you as a person with great influence. Let your government know that allowing the continued suffering of animals for food and fur is unacceptable in light of Koreas inter- national standing.

We want to ask you to urge your government and authorities to recognize that the inhumane treatment of animals on Korea foodfarms shows a lack of understanding of acceptable animal husbandry techniques.

We want you to help us to stop abusing “mans best friends”. Dogs have always been amongst the finest beings on the planet. All dogs and cats deserve our respect, our love and our care. There is and there will never be excuse not to treat these animals very good!

We were recently asked this:
1. “How can normal people in Korea eat meat coming from such outrageously dirty places filled with insects etc. where the poor dogs and cats are kept?
2. If these people get ill after eating this undelicious and unhygienic food do not ever ask us in the civilized world for medication or money to cure them. Never”.

We quote from a letter we have received from a family:

1. “We are so sad and angry when we think about how the the Koreans are treating the poor innocent dogs and cats. In 1952 when we were children, our parents helped with relief work (money and other kinds of aid) so for instance Denmark was capabel to send the Hospitalship Jutlandia to Korea to help your suffering people. We are sure of this: If we had then known that our aid and money was going to be used in a way so your people could survive and later on eat your innocent dogs and cats we would not have send you one penny! Never”.

Allow me to quote from The Danish Animal Health Act:

“The aim of the law is to ensure that animals are treated properly and receive the best possible protection from any pain, suffering, fear, permanent injury and significant inconvenience.

“The owner of an animal shall provide for the animal in a carefully manner. Furthermore, the owner shall provide for a shelter, food, water according to the animal’s physiological, behavioural norm as well as health inspection and supervision according to approved practical and scientific research.”
