I am outraged to see my local Pizza Hut promoting Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus, which was recently documented beating elephants with sharp bullhooks in the most sensitive parts of their bodies. These abuses happen behind the scenes, often just moments before the elephants are marched into the ring. By offering discounted circus tickets to customers, Pizza Hut supports an industry that rips animals from their homes, crams them into boxcars, and beats them day after day.
The circus deprives exotic animals of everything that is natural and important to them. Elephants who would normally walk up to 30 miles a day are chained up to 100 hours at a time. In the wild, a female baby elephant will stay with her mother her whole life, but Ringling rips babies away from their mothers and forces them into a terrifying, lonely life on the road.
Please end all ties with Ringling Bros. and stop offering discounted circus tickets to patrons.
