Contact Dr. Collins and ask that NIH fund innovative non-animal methods like these, rather than the ridiculous NIH-funded research IDA exposed earlier this month, Top 10 Reasons Why Animal Research Is a Cruel Joke.

INFORMATION / TALKING POINTS
World Week for Animals in Laboratories (WWAIL) begins April 17, 2010. Start this year’s WWAIL by sending a message to the Director of the NIH – the largest public source of funding for animal experiments in the United States.
Before becoming the Director of NIH, Francis Collins was the director of the Human Genome Project, which allowed scientists to examine the significant physiological similarities – and differences – between human and non-human animals. In his time at the NIH, he has strongly supported the development of personalized medicine, which would greatly reduce the perceived “need” for animal testing. It is clear from these projects that Dr. Collins has the potential to be a powerful ally in the push to advance science beyond the use of animals.
Thank you for everything you do for animals!
