The National Toxicology Program (NTP) needs to hear that you don't want your tax dollars to fund these cruel and pointless animal experiments! Please send a quick, polite message to NTP Director Linda S. Birnbaum, urging her to put an end to the NTP's animal experiments to test soy infant formula.

The National Toxicology Program (NTP)—an agency of the federal government—wants to use more animals to retest soy infant formula. Soy infant formulas have been used to feed more than 20 million infants in the U.S. since the early 1960s, and the number of harmful effects reported is no more than for formulas based on cow's milk. But according to the NTP, one of the components of soy infant formula affects reproductive development in rats and mice.

The NTP is now initiating a series of new animal tests in which baby animals will most likely be force-fed components of soy formula and then either killed so that their sexual organs can be examined or kept alive just long enough for their reproductive functions to be evaluated. These experiments will do nothing to make soy infant formula safer for baby humans.

Why conduct these experiments? The NTP apparently wants to use more animals to figure out why the effects shown in previous animal tests aren't being seen in human babies! If the NTP is concerned about subtle or long-term health effects in humans, a more sensible—and humane—approach would be to collect information from the millions of people who were given soy infant formula as babies.

Thank you for everything you do for animals!
