Faces of Devocalization.
Adam Sandler's comedy, Grown Ups, included a canine character
who had been devocalized — a "convenience surgery" in which
vocal cords are cut just to stifle a dog's or cat's voice. The
movie portrayed this cruel procedure as necessary and the
animal's horribly altered voice as a joke. (The animal actor
used in the film was not actually devocalized.) Veterinarians,
shelters and adopters of devocalized animals say this is no
laughing matter. Devocalized animals face very serious risks
without any benefit, not even the assurance of a home.
Adam Sandler, who co-wrote Grown Ups, is widely known for his
compassion; he's also a dog lover! Invite him to learn about
devocalization by watching

The DVD release of Grown Ups could promote devocalization. By
speaking out now, Adam Sandler can promote humane treatment of
animals instead.
