The federal government has proposed the creation of a new wildlife refuge in the headwaters of the Everglades that is critical to the survival of the Florida Panther. This refuge would restore wetlands and connect existing conservation lands that are vital wildlife corridors for the Florida Panther. Hunters, anglers, and ATV operators are all vehemently opposed to the creation of this refuge for fear it may limit their access.
