ACTION

Tell the State Senators and State Representatives of Iowa, Florida and Minnesota that you oppose their efforts to pass legislation that would make it illegal to film inside of factory farms without permission, as well as to distribute any acquired footage. Remind them how dangerous it would be to ban filming situations of cruelty and exploitation. AND remind them they have a duty to protect freedom of speech and victims of cruelty rather than being manipulated by corporations.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT SOME OF THESE SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES ARE OPPOSED TO THIS BAD LEGISLATION and we do NOT want to alienate them. We do not know how to tell you which people are opposed and which people are in favor.

VERY important to let them know if you are a constituent who could vote for or against them in upcoming elections.

INFORMATION / TALKING POINTS

Multiple states (currently Iowa, Minnesota, and Florida) are considering making it illegal to film inside of factory farms without permission, as well as to distribute any acquired footage. It is a very dangerous proposition to ban filming situations of cruelty and exploitation. Not only does this infringe on First Amendment rights, but it makes the statement that the interests of corporations are more important than the lives and well-being of the individuals who suffer and die at their hands.

Video footage from inside of factory farms is one of the most powerful tools that we have to expose the public to the truth about how animals are raised and killed for food. Such footage is responsible for animal cruelty convictions, raising general awareness about animal issues, and causing people to go vegan and no longer support the atrocities of factory farms.

Thank you for caring about not letting the suffering of animals go unseen, unheard, or unacknowledged and for being a part of the fight to reveal the truth -- and to maintain our right to do so.

Thank you for everything you do for animals!
