Given General Motors’ and Chevrolet’s financial trouble, it makes little sense to appeal to a tiny minority of the auto-buying public while offending the majority. Please contact Chevrolet Customer Service and politely but firmly demand that they end the contest without giving away the killing trip.

Below is a sample letter that you can personalize and send to Chevrolet:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Dear Chevrolet:

I find it highly disappointing that Chevrolet feels the need to appeal to the most violent members of society by running a promotion to win a “dream hunting trip.” By running such a campaign and contest the company has ensured that I will not buy another Chevrolet product until such myopic promotional efforts are abandoned.

According to data from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, only four percent of the American public hunts for recreation. Given that only a fraction of that number are licensed drivers with the financial means to buy new Chevrolet trucks, by appealing to those who take pleasure in needlessly and violently killing wildlife Chevrolet has offended a far greater percentage of the public that now sees the company as one that is anti-environment, anti-wildlife, and pro-violence.

Until this promotion is dropped and Chevrolet agrees to not again glorify needless violence and animal cruelty, I will encourage others to avoid doing business with the company.
