Tell the EPA to Hold the Meat and Dairy Industries Accountable for Pollution and Antibiotic Resistance

• I support regulations that would require every Intensive Farm Animal Production operator, including Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) owners and operators, to submit all data to the EPA regarding discharge into the water supply.
• CAFO operators should also be required to submit data regarding discharge that is distributed on the land.
• Right now, EPA lacks the authority to properly regulate meat and dairy producers.
• Most of these producers keep animals in cramped conditions, which is not only cruel but also leads to pollution of rivers and streams, along with other types of pollution.
• Antibiotics often find their way into the water supply this way, which has contributed to the current epidemic of antibiotic-resistant infections.
  Governmental agencies that oversee environmental protection must have authority to enforce appropriate regulations to ensure a healthful, clean environment.
