INFORMATION / TALKING POINTS
SHARK has arrived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the 2012 Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD) Rodeo (July 20-29). We will be here for the next two weeks documenting the horror, violence, and death that is part and parcel of this brutal rodeo.
On the first day of the rodeo, yesterday, Wednesday, July 18, two calves and three steers were so badly injured that they had to be carted away from the arena. There were more injuries as well.
This steer was the fifth victim of the day to be carted away. This animal had his right rear leg broken, and the break was clearly audible across the arena. Riders responded, but were kept away by the timed event judge, who chooses to allow the victim to suffer long enough for the contestant to get a score.
The steer is carted away and will soon be killed
Thank you for everything you do for animals!
