ACTION
Please contact Dr. Gibbens and demand that he take immediate action
against the Santa Cruz Biotech company for all violations of the animal
Welfare Act. Be sure to insist on severe penalties because negligence at
this lab has killed several goats and caused others to suffer horribly.

Santa Cruz Biotech Lies to Officials While They Harm Numerous Animals
After years of investigations and research, Stop Animal Exploitation NOW!
has uncovered numerous federal reports involving Santa Cruz Biotech (SCB),
where SCB has been found guilty of a shocking number of direct violations of
the Animal Welfare Act as well as withholding legal information from federal
inspectors. In addition, SCB has continued to brazenly disregard the same
laws they were found to have defied to begin with.
An exceedingly extensive USDA report reveals instances such as the existence
of a herd of 841 animals – many of whom were suffering from untreated
injuries and illnesses – that the Santa Cruz Biotech staff flagrantly lied
to the federal inspectors about; actually denying the existence of the
animals. Further reports disclose even more federal violations, multiple
sick animals, and the deaths of two other animals.
From 2007 – 2012 a previous Federal Complaint shows that Santa Cruz Biotech
was responsible for more than 20 violations of the Animal Welfare
Act—including inadequate veterinary care, inadequate personnel, inadequate
supervision of experimentation by the Institutional Animal Care & Use
Committee of Santa Cruz Biotech, inadequate animal handling, unqualified
personnel, etc.
“Multiple USDA inspections now demonstrate that Santa Cruz Biotech has utter
contempt for enforcement actions by the USDA,” Michael A. Budkie, A.H.T.
Executive Director, SAEN.
“Not only is Santa Cruz Biotech denying animals adequate veterinary care
which causes untimely deaths, the USDA has documented that the lab has
deliberately lied, and withheld information from federal regulators. What
else must happen before the USDA takes action? What else can a lab do
wrong?" asked Budkie.
