Letter from T. - 29 Mar 2006

I am outraged at this! I have 37 Bantam chickens (mostly silkies) and 1 barred rock hen. I have had them for 6 years. They are like children to me. They do have feelings. I see it every day when I feed and water them, and clean their homes. I am a vegetarian and so glad not to be a part of this nightmare! I wish the whole world could see these pictures. Anybody with a conscious would at least have a second thought about eating chickens or eggs. Something has to be done now. What about getting petitions to stop this to politicians? Why are the laws not protecting poultry? Shame on all of us. Thank you for the website and your time.

Dear T.:

Thank you for writing and telling us about your companion chickens.

Petitions only seem to work when there is a ground swell of out cry against the cruelty. This is how many states enacted their felony cruelty laws for companion animals. We need to do the same thing for all exploited animals. This is why it's so important for all caring people to spread the truth to as many people as we can, and ask them to also speak out and write letters on every issue involving animal cruelty.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
