Moo-ving people toward compassionate living
From Susan Trout - 11 Aug 2003
Dearest Mary and Frank,
I'm writing this fighting back tears. I forwarded this essay via a letter I wrote to a columnist for a newspaper in my former home town of York, PA. He wrote the most callous, unkind editorial trying to be humorous, of course, making a mockery of PETA's campaign against KFC.
When I see how these precious creatures must suffer so, I can hardly stand it.
I find myself angry at people of the Christian faith, even though I was raised as a Christian and still believe in Jesus Christ. Sometimes my soul is so disquieted and my heart aches so much that I can't sleep at night thinking about how these creatures suffer at the hands of man--who possesses superior ability to reason and empathize--yet arrogantly ignores what we do to our animal brethren.
Is there any book you can recommend that might help me in times like this? I do read the Bible, but words from a compassionate animal lover like me would help a lot.
Thanks for all you do!
I pray the day will come soon when cruelty to animals and people, wars, and every other manner of man's sin will cease. May we all live together in peace!
With love and thanks,

Please accept our apology for not responding sooner to your letter, as we were away at the NAVS Summerfest.
We presented two sessions on the problems you have experienced with many Christians and the Church, as well as a session on Mourning and a Memorial Service for the Animals.
We have published many articles, stories, and poems on our web site that may help you.
We also have on-line books and a book review section that may be of help.
A wonderful and easy reading book is The Dominion of Love by Norm Phelps.
In the Love of the Lord,
