In the Image of God

In the Image of God

Are we living as though we were created in the image of God, and are we seen by others as being the image of God among them?

We sure hope so, because this is the way that all other human beings and all the animals should see us.

Listen to what God said in Genesis 1:26-27.

26. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27. And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
NASB

God is all spirit; thus, God is telling us that we were made in the spiritual image of God, the same God that lovingly spoke the whole of creation into existence, and made it as a vegan paradise, where there was no suffering or death, and all living beings ate only plant foods, and He looked back upon everything He had made and proclaimed it very good.

If we are truly living in the image of God, then we should be living as the protector of all creation (all of our fellow human beings, all of the other animals, and the environment in which we all live), and never as the tyrants that corrupt creation and cause so much pain, suffering, and death.

If we are truly living in the image of God, we will be seen as peacemaking children of God who are doing everything in their power to free creation from its present corruption.

Wonderful! If we could only reflect a fraction of His image, what a world this would be! Lord help us to reflect your true image to the world and forsake our wicked, cruel ways and honor you by promoting peace, love and mercy to all of Your precious creation.
