Institutionalized Animal Cruelty – 01 Introduction

Most people in the world don’t seem to be really concerned with institutionalized animal cruelty, because their cruel treatment of animals is mostly hidden from the public.

In addition, huge amounts of government money from hard working taxpayers is used to support these atrocities in the form of grants to universities and other institutions that test and experiment on animals, and in the form of subsidies to farmers raising feed for animals that are to be slaughtered, in government grazing lands, and in price supports for animal flesh and dairy products.

In other words, the United States Government is supporting institutionalized animal cruelty, which is at cross purposes with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which is charged with protecting some animals, but not all, through their Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), and their Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). In this series we will use their own reports to expose some of the institutionalized animal cruelty.

The general public needs to learn the truth, for as we are told in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (NIV) Free to do what? Free to counter all forms of institutionalized animal cruelty.

In addition, we are taught in Proverbs 12:10 that,
“A righteous man has regard for the life of his beast,
But the compassion of the wicked is cruel.”
NASB

So, if we consider ourselves to be loving, compassionate, and righteous people, regardless of any religious affiliation, then we have a duty to expose and oppose all forms of institutionalized animal cruelty, and to stop supporting it by buying the products of cruelty to animals.
