Walked With God

Walked With God

There were only two people in the Bible who were said to have walked with God: Enoch (Genesis 5:22) and Noah (Genesis 6:9).

Genesis 5:22 Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters.

Genesis 6:9 These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.

In this light, Col Sky asked us a question: “Frank, what did Jesus have to say about the meanings of these two words…if anything, even though these words are new into our language…*symbiosis* (working together, for equal benefit.), and *synchronization* (being in step/time with, in harmony with.)”

Even though these two words are not used in the Bible, Jesus did teach us to be like our Father in heaven, which is the closest understanding we can come to the meaning of both of Col’s words.

Jesus commanded us in Matthew 5:48: “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect”, which requires us to be in harmony with God.

There are many other similar verses in the Bible, but for now let’s look at one more, such as what Jesus said in John 14:25-27…

25. “These things I have spoken to you, while abiding with you.

26. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

27. “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
NASB

If we allow the Holy Spirit to enter into us, He will work with us and help us to be like Jesus and change us into the peacemaking children of God that Jesus told us to be in Matthew 5:9, if we wanted God’s blessing, and who Paul told us would free creation from its present corruption (Romans 8:18-23).

When we have learned to live like Jesus in the ways of peacemakers, we will also see that we have walked with God.
