Animals suffer terribly in huge factory farms and in meat processing plants where thousands are slaughtered daily without ever having seen the sky or felt grass under their feet.

Agri-business and the greed for money have replaced the small family farms of the past, and put the health of Americans at risk by adding massive amounts of hormones and antibiotics to the feed of these innocent creatures.

Conditions in the nationís slaughter houses are kept secret from the public, and are often too horrible to be seen.

Was this Godís intention?

Hereís what all of us can do:
ē Abstain from meat each Friday during Lent
ē Abstain from meat whenever we can and offer it to God
ē Pray for all Godís creatures, human and animal, that are victims of cruelty and greed, and

Remember the words of St. Francis of Assisi:

ďIf you have men who will exclude any of Godís creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.Ē
