CASH ACTION ALERT!
Urge Governor Barbour to VETO SB 929, the bill to exempt hunting
accidents from the state Public Records laws.
SB 929 would prevent Mississippians from being informed about hunting
accidents involving injuries or death. The Associated Press reports that
Barbara Powell, a lobbyist for the Mississippi Center for Freedom of
Information and Common Cause, said the February 2006 hunting accident in
which Vice President Dick Cheney shot his friend is an example of the
type of incident reports the bill would keep from public view in
Mississippi.
Critics of SB 929 say it restricts the public's right to know about
hunting accidents.
Please contact Governor Haley Barbour now and urge him to veto this
bill.
The Honorable Haley Barbour, Governor
