Oh, Great Hunter – Who gave you the ‘Right’ to bring
terror, pain and loneliness to our families?
Oh, Great Hunter – Who gave you the ‘Right’ to take my
father from me one snowy evening, only to have my mommy find him the
following day with his head gone? What could you possibly want with
my daddy’s head? How proud he was of his large, handsome antlers, how
he pranced around…
Oh, Great Hunter – Who gave you the ‘Right’ to take my
three brothers and sisters from me that clear, brisk autumn day? When
all we were doing was gathering acorns for our family so we would not
be hungry or cold this winter…
Oh, Great Hunter – Who gave you the ‘Right’ to take our
children’s skin away from them after you took their tender lives away?
Don’t you have your own skin? We had just left our den and were eating
some sweet clover, we meant no harm to you…
Oh, Great Hunter – Who gave you the ‘Right’ to take my
mate from me just when we were about to have three new, precious babies,
all we wanted that fateful day was to swim in the water and bask in
the joyful sun, now my Ducklings will never know their father…
Oh, Great Hunter – Who gave you the ‘Right’ to kill me,
are we all not made by the same Creator, are we all not brothers, are
we all not God’s children…
Signed,
The Animal Nations
