The Dear Deer
The following are unfortunate victims of hunting and
mismanagement. All of the deer were from just a tiny herd in New
York State. The photos were all taken during this hunting “season.” These
animals were known by the property owner who documented their misfortune.
Imagine what has happened all over and has never been recorded!
All photos below are by A.G.
You will see Shanley’s photo and obituary in the “In
Loving Memory” section of this issue of the C.A.S.H. Courier.

Shaylabelle – approximately 8 months – foreleg severed around dew claw.

Tinkerbelle – She disappeared at almost 3 years. Her hind leg was shot off
at age 6 months. She struggled valiantly until she was killed by either a bullet
or a car without her foot. She was a loving and good mother to her twins.

Junaya, (pronounced June-eye-uh) currently 3.5 years old. She was the victim
of an auto accident. She’s still here and managing better than the other
injured ones.

Brandon, is a very large button buck. He’s 8 months old. He had a horrible
auto injury as you can see. His leg is so swollen you can see the red muscle.
He couldn’t put weight on the lower portion of the leg and had to walk on his
knees. His leg is still twisted and distorted including the hoof, though he
no longer walks on his knee. I fear that he won’t be able to hold his own this
fall.
