Crows targeted, boy killed

Two high school-aged brothers in Ossian, NY, were shooting at crows out a third floor window when an accidental discharge took the life of one at the hands of the other. Brandon Deritter, 14, was killed.

Grief counselors were brought in to Canaseraga Central School to help students cope with the incident. The school has no plans to educate students about hunting dangers.  The DEC will not count Brandon in hunting accident statistics.
