Judge: Animal Cruelty Law DOES Apply in Deer Killings
Updated: May 13, 2009 05:00 PM EDT
Three men in Waupaca County, Rory and Robby Kuenzi and Nicholas Hermes,
chose a particularly cruel way to kill a group of deer by chasing them with
their snowmobiles last January. Their lawyer made a motion to dismiss
cruelty charges based on the notion that cruelty to animals does not apply
to wild animals that belong to no one.
Fortunately, at Rory Kuenzi’s status conference, the judge denied the
shameful motion to dismiss, ruling that cruelty to animals does apply in
this case.
Rory Kuenzi’s next court appearance is set for next month.
Let us hope that every judge who deals with this case recognizes that
cruelty is cruelty, no matter what animal is involved.
