Hunters Getting Desperate
Submitted to the Washington Post
11/25/03
A recent article in the Post reported on hunting groups
trying to lure children into the blood sport (Hunting for youth 11/16). Many
Americans are happy to see that these efforts are not paying off. As the
number of active hunters declines, game agencies and private hunting groups
are getting desperate and are spreading their pro hunting and trapping
propaganda to even Boy Shouts and Girl Scouts groups.
With sales of hunting licenses dropping steadily
nationwide, game agencies (who depend upon the revenue generated from the
sale of hunting and trapping licenses, and guns and ammunition) must create
a new generation of hunters if they wish to exist in the relatively near
future.
Clearly the public is rejecting the slaughter of harmless
animals for sport. The image of cave dwellers comes to the minds of many
people when they think of those who hunt and trap animals for recreation.
Hunting and trapping animals for kicks is a barbaric practice that has no
place in the modern world.
