Boycott Italy!
Sent to several Italian Tourism agencies on 12/19/03
Dear Sirs and Madams,
The Committee to Abolish Sport Hunting is an animal
protection organization that educates the public about the mismanagement of
wildlife by state and federal wildlife agencies, and the destruction of
wildlife and ecosystems in the name of sport hunting and game management.
Our voice represents the views of over 20,000 members and supporters
throughout the United States.
It has come to our attention that an Italian tourism
boycott campaign called "Caccia il Cacciatore" www.CacciaIlCacciatore.org
is being conducted as a protest to the privileges which Italian
hunters enjoy at the expense of animals, humans and the environment.
We intend to publicize the tourism boycott on our website
and in our newsletter, so that our members and supporters, as well as those
who visit our highly popular website, will be alerted to the movement to
abolish the disease of hunting in Italy.
The pro-wildlife movement in the U.S is strong and growing
stronger every day. We're certain that once word of the boycott becomes
widely known, those who care about the lives of wild animals and the
preservation of the habitat in which they live, will abide by the request of
the boycott organizers and choose to visit areas other than Italy for
vacation.
When Italy becomes a safe place for wildlife we will
gladly reverse our course and encourage tourism to your wonderful nation.
Until that time, we will cooperate with the boycott and assist the
organizers in any way possible.
Sincerely,
Joe Miele, Vice President
The Committee to Abolish Sport Hunting
