AFTON - A downstate man was injured in a hunting accident
Saturday morning in Walker Township, according to reports from the Cheboygan
County Sheriff's Department.
Todd Modzelewski, 35, of Lake Orion, Mich., was shot in
the upper portion of both legs by fellow hunter Sean Williams, 33, of
Clinton Township, Mich., state reports.
Deputies said that there were several people hunting out
of Savage Cedar Ranch in Afton when a wounded boar charged Williams.
Williams reportedly shot at the boar several times with a handgun. Reports
state that it appears that Williams was thrown off balance by the boar, and
fired again at the boar as it fled.
Modzelewski was northeast of Williams at the time of the
incident and was hit by one of the rounds, state reports. Deputies said that
Williams did not know of Modzelewski's location at the time.
Modzelewski was transported to Northern Michigan Hospital
in Petoskey by the Cheboygan Ambulance. This accident remains under
investigation.
