Teen Accidentally Shot in Foot while Hunting

Coeur d'Alene _ A 17-year-old from Coeur d'Alene was accidentally shot in the foot Tuesday after a day of deer hunting with friends.

He was treated and released from Kootenai Medical Center on Tuesday evening.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department, the teen and some friends had been hunting on Canfield Mountain and were getting into a vehicle to leave when the accident occurred.

One of his friends' rifles discharged inside the vehicle and part of the bullet entered the teen's foot, according to a press release.

The press release said the Sheriff's Department wanted "to remind hunters to practice good firearms safety and avoid injuries like these."
