POSTED: 11:51 AM EST December 15, 2003

NEWPORT, Pa. -- A hunting accident in Perry County over the weekend left a Hershey man dead.

State police said 76-year-old Wayne Baum was attempting to climb into a tree stand to do some deer hunting Saturday in Saville Township.

Baum was nearly to the top of the tree stand when he tumbled backward 15 feet to the ground.

Baum's son found his injured father alive but police said the man died as a result of his injuries.
