CROYDEN, NH -- A Manchester man is dead after a hunting
accident Saturday morning in Croyden. Colonel Jeff Gray of the Fish and Game
Department says 58 year old Robert Proulx was with five friends hunting in
Corbin Park, a private shooting preserve in the Blue Mountain forest.
Gray says it appears one of the hunters mistook Proulx for
game and shot him. The group had divided up for the hunt. Two of the men
took stands in the woods and four others, including Proulx, were hunting on
foot. Gray says the hunters were pursuing elk, boar and deer, and Proulx was
wearing jeans and a camouflage jacket.
Gray says Proulx was moving toward the stands when the
shot was fired. Gray says Proulx was dead by the time authorities arrived.
He says the incident remains under investigation.
