JASPER, Ala. (AP) -- A Gardendale man reported missing
after a day of hunting near the Walker-Tuscaloosa county line was found
dead.
Walker County Sheriff John Mark Tirey said Daniel L. Thomas,
39, apparently died after he fell from a tree stand at the Walker-Loosa
Hunting Club.
Thomas' body was found after midnight Friday by volunteers
who had been searching for him for about three hours. They found his
four-wheeler first, and then his body next to a tree he apparently had
climbed for stalk hunting.
Walker County Coroner Joey Vick pronounced Thomas dead
on the scene. At least two hunters have died during the current season.
