HERMANN, Mo. - A prominent physician in this eastern
Missouri town is dead after a hunting accident.
Dr. James Shaw was turkey hunting Thursday in Gasconade
County. Sheriff Glenn Ebker said another hunter who thought he was shooting
at a turkey shot Shaw, who suffered wounds to the face and chest. He was
pronounced dead at the scene.
Ebker's department and the Missouri Department of
Conservation will conduct a joint investigation. There was no indication of
foul play, Ebker said. The name of the other hunter has not been released.
Shaw was a lifelong resident of Hermann who followed in
the medical footsteps of his grandfather, father and uncle.
