HOPKINTON, N.Y. A northern New York man faces a manslaughter charge after
police say he shot and killed his nephew while the two were hunting.
Authorities in Saint Lawrence County say 40-year-old Mark Sharp of
Norfolk was killed Tuesday evening in the town of Hopkinton. Sheriff's
deputies have arrested his uncle -- 45-year-old John Boots of Massena and
charged him in connection with the shooting.
The sheriff's Department says Boots recklessly caused his nephew's death
by the discharge of his rifle while the two men were hunting in a wooded
area on state land.
Sharp was pronounced dead at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
