HILLSDALE, Mich. (AP) -- A man died from a gunshot wound in an apparent
hunting accident, authorities said.
Hillsdale police responding to a complaint of hunters shooting in
a swampy area near a gas station Tuesday found the body of Michael
Steven Aguirre, of the Detroit suburb of Taylor.
Aguirre, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene by the county medical
examiner, The Jackson Citizen Patriot reported.
The wound was not self-inflicted, public safety deputy chief Bill
Whorley told the Hillsdale Daily News. Whorley said a postmortem examination
had been ordered, and results might not be known for several weeks.
A hunter also died on Monday -- the first day of Michigan's firearm
deer season -- when he slipped from his tree stand and became entangled
in his safety harness. Paul D. Crouch, 45, of Napoleon, died while
hunting with a friend on property in Jackson County's Grass Lake Township.
