CASS CITY HUNTER ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS HIMSELF WITH HUNTING PISTOL
CASS CITY, Mich. A Cass City hunter is recovering from an accidental
gunshot wound over the weekend.
State police say John Gruber was picking up his equipment as he prepared
to climb down a hunting stand near his Tuscola County home. As he bent
over, his 50-caliber, muzzle-loading pistol fell out of its holster.
The weapon discharged as it hit the base of his hunting stand.
Gruber was struck in the chest by one shell. He walked back to his
vehicle and drove home. His wife took him to a local hospital. He listed
in stable condition after surgery.
