Byhalia man killed in hunting accident

NEW ALBANY, Miss. - Union County deputies and state wildlife officers are investigating the death of a Byhalia man in a hunting accident.

County Coroner Mark Golding said that Mr. M*, 32, was hunting with a friend Monday in the Keownville community northeast of New Albany when his friend apparently mistook him for a deer and shot him.

Golding said the shooter's name is not being released at this time. He said the shooting appears to be accidental, and no charges have been filed.
