A Union County man was in stable condition Friday night after he
was shot in what wildlife officials describe as a hunting accident.
Tony Meltabarger was turkey hunting in the Plainview Community when
another hunter shot him, according to Chris Upton, public information
officer for the Union County Sheriff's Office.
Meltabarger was shot in the shoulder and face, Upton said. The two
men were hunting separately.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency is investigating the
shooting, Upton said.
Meltabarger was recovering at the University of Tennessee Medical
Center.
