An off-duty Fulton firefighter fell nearly 40 feet out of a tree at
3:57 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of state Route 48 and Wilcox
Road in Granby, said Cody Volunteer Fire Chief David Donhauser.
Steve Fiorini, 44, of 616 W. Fourth St., Fulton, was listed in
serious condition at University Hospital Saturday night. He suffered
possible hip and pelvis separations, leg fractures and an ankle injury
during the fall, Donhauser said.
"He's lucky," Donhauser said. "He could have easily been killed."
Fiorini was deer hunting about a quarter mile from state Route 48 when
he fell. He used a cell phone to call a relative, who notified police,
Donhauser said.
