Cedar Springs deer hunter shot while hunting in Newaygo County

(Newaygo County, November 17, 2005, 8:39 a.m.) A Kent County deer hunter is out of the hospital after being shot.

Thirty-eight-year-old Brien Velting was accidentally shot Wednesday while hunting in Newaygo County's Troy Township.

Police say another hunter fired his rifle toward a deer and missed, hitting the Cedar Springs resident in the upper torso.

He was taken to Reed City Hospital and left the ER that afternoon.
