SPOONER, Wis. Law enforcement investigators say a deer hunter who
was fatally shot Saturday in Burnett County was killed by a member of
his own hunting party.
Sixty-six-year-old Dale McDowell of Danbury was shot in a state
forest in the Town of Webb Lake.
Safety specialist for the D-N-R's Northern Region Chris Wunrow says
the shooter and the victim's family have been notified of the
investigation's results.
The investigation was conducted by a team that included the D-N-R,
the Burnett County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State
Patrol.
A spokeswoman for the Burnett County district attorney says her
