Five-Year-Old Boy Killed in Hunting Accident is Identified

The Salt Lake Tribune

A five-year-old boy who died Saturday in an accidental shooting has been identified as Steven lee of Centerfield. The boy was on a weekend camping trip near the Jorgenson Flat are in Garfield County when he fell on his .22 caliber gun, shooting himself, said police spokeswoman Becki Bronson.

Lee died a short time later, police said. The boy was with two adults and two other children when the accident occurred.

Sheriff Than Cooper warns parents to be careful when any loaded firearm is within reach of a child. He recommends that parents do not allow kids to handle weapons by themselves until they have taken a hunter safety course.
