Lakewood man dies in apparent hunting accident

A Lakewood man, hunting near his East County Line Road residence, died Tuesday in an apparent hunting accident, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office reported today.

It is believed that William McCurdy, 66, fell from a deer stand. He was discovered next to the tree by his son, said Robert Gasser, executive assistant prosecutor for Ocean County.

It is bow and arrow season and McCurdy was hunting deer, Gasser said. An autopsy was being performed Wednesday.
