Crawford – State Police at Middletown and Environmental
Conservation Police are investigating a hunting accident that
occurred at the Black Rock Hunting Club in the Town of Crawford.
Police said Anthony Raco, 47, of Monroe was bird hunting in an
area of the club heavy with brush. John Esposito, 68, of Middletown,
was also hunting about 50 feet away.
Both men heard a bird fly out of the brush between them. Esposito
fired one round of 20 gauge birdshot striking and killing the bird.
Four pellets from the round missed the bird and struck Raco in the
right arm and chest area.
Raco drove to the Arden Hill Campus of Orange Regional Medical
Center where he was treated and released. The investigation is
continuing.
