The Enquirer

HASTINGS - A Grand Rapids man, Ronie Steffes, 65, was being treated today at Pennock Hospital in Hastings after he was shot while hunting Thursday in Barry County.

Michigan State Police at Hastings were called at 11:45 a.m. on state land near Briggs Road south of Shaw Lake Road.

Troopers said two hunting parties were in the area and someone from one group fired a 12-gauge shotgun slug which struck Steffes, who was with another hunting group.
