Negaunee, November 23
A 28-year-old Negaunee man had died after being accidentally shot
while hunting.
Jason Rob Ockerman was shot in the upper thigh by his hunting
partner who was unloading his rifle. It happened in Wells Township
in Southern Marquette County late Wednesday afternoon.
Ockerman was taken to Marquette General Hospital. According to
the DNR, Ockerman passed away during surgery on his leg.
There were six people, including Ockerman and a four-year-old
child, in the hunting party when the shooting happened. The DNR is
handling the investigation.
